Modern art by Antonio Basso: from figurative painting to a modern abstract art concept
My modern abstract art consolidation year is 2011. It is incredible how my art started (I was only doing figurative paintings) and how it has evolved into a more modern and personal abstract art concept as the year ends.
I guess, that my deep and own personal abstract art is finally here!
When the year started I was basically painting about fire as a concept. Abstract art or even modern art was not in my mind at all. Who would have imagined where I´m today? It´s a real step forward.
Fire was necessary in order to burn out my unconscious walls. The way I worked it out was mainly figurative¿?¿?, although as you can see in the below and above images, lines and crossroads where there even I did not know it yet.
As 2011 went by I started to draw a lot (with pen and charcoal). I couldn’t stop doing it on a on. Themes I draw where always different. Exexution was fast, very fast. It was question of seeking and trying. I knew I was seeking something. But what was it?
In may 2011 I had my first figurative painting commission,. It was quite hard to make it even though the result was pretty interesting and the Client loved it.
Right after it my first creative crisis happened. I had to stop and did stop. I did not know what to do anymore. It was a terrifying feeling. The muses where gone. I even thought it was the end of my short artistic career.
I went to talk with my modern art coach who told me to simply start drawing again. The mission was to draw anything that came to my mind. He said “It is simple: pick a pencil, a rubber and any type of paper and just draw. Do it madly. Fill as many art notebooks as you need to. But go on, take it easy, relax, and bring me the results in order to analyze them- And please, feel free when drawing. Forget about rules!. You are painting figurative art and maybe yours is a fresher abstract one”.
Here you have the results. No words are necessary, but let me tell you that this exercise completely reoriented my art.
Hope you have enjoyed part one. Check part II to know what happened and feel free to add any coment about what you have just red.
