Top Abstract Artists in an art museum (Spain 1950´s to 1970´s)
(note: The abstract and non abstract pictures I show in this post are details of some of the impressive artworks I saw. To see the complete abstract paintings … you must visit this modern art museum
Last week I visited an impressive modern art museum. Probably, the best abstract art museum I have ever been in.
It is a specialized modern abstract art museum located in Cuenca (Spain), and you are obliged to visit if you are a an abstract art lover. Read also this article about another great abstract art exhibition (Rothko and Sugimoto)
You will see a spectacular abstract art collection including many of the best Spanish Abstract Artists of that period (Tapies, Saura, Millares, Rivera, Rueda, Guerrero, Zobel … to mention some of them)
The abstract artworks belonging to this collection are amazing. It all started when Fernando Zobel decided to donate his personal art collection (that included his own lyrical abstract paintings) so that this abstract museum could be a reality.
The main reason I wanted to go there was to see some abstract artworks by Manolo Millares, one of my favorite abstract artists and a constant inspirational source to my modern abstract paintings. But the overall art collection exhibited in this modern art museum is simply fantastic!!!
The museum is located in a beautiful building. Once inside you can freely walk around, get as close as you want to the abstract artworks, take as many pictures as you desire, and 100% enjoy your time there.
Another interesting visit in Cuenca is Fundación Antonio Perez. He is a interesting modern art lover, artist and writer, that with his wide art collection decided to create a modern art museum. Together with his own object trouves, I recomend visiting Manolo Millares aisle. It is quite impressive!.
